Even though it is pretty cold out, it is important to know what you can do now to ensure that your garden is successful for 2023. For the month of January, there are many things that can be done to help kick off this year’s garden. One of the first things you can plant your see tomatoes indoors and under a warm light. This will give them a chance to sprout before you transplant them to your garden in the spring. As they grow, in about 4-5 weeks you can move them into larger containers.

Aside from tomatoes, onions bulb should start making their way out for purchase. These onion transplants can be planted around mid to late January. So, be sure to stop by and pick up your favorite varieties. Another great option is using this time to plant another round of cool season greens. There are some great choices such as lettuce, carrots, and even collards.
