Why Price Increases?
Why Price Increases? By now everyone has noticed the recent drastic price increases in gas, diesel, groceries. In addition, pet and livestock food. Diesel has doubled in price since this time last year. Corn, wheat and other commodities have gone up anywhere from 22% (shelled peanuts) to over 100% (milo) in bushel prices in the last year and a half, and there honestly doesn’t seem to be any end in sight.
The price of cardboard boxes have gone up 50% in the last six months or so. Fertilizer has gone up, in some cases by 200%. In many cases, we are paying more for items than what we were selling them for just a few months ago.
Sadly, our country relies heavily on foreign imports of most of our grains products, fertilizer, and natural gas and oil. In many cases we don’t have a choice, but I try to read labels, and when I can, I purchase American Made products.
