Today is a Time to Celebrate – It is The Air Force’s Birthday. Back in 1947, the United States Air Force was born, even though originally created in 1907 as the United States Army Signal Corps. 

The Air Force is responsible for providing air support and is currently the largest air force in the world. In 2017, there were over 300,000 active-duty airmen and just under 70,000 reserve personnel. An interesting fact about the Air Force is that they are responsible for chasing storms and are the “Hurricane Hunters”.

The Air Force is the second youngest branch of the United States armed forces and they are vital in protecting our country both on the ground and in the skies.
