Time to Plant Ryegrass
Time to Plant Ryegrass: With the colder weather here, it is time to plant some winter grass – specifically ryegrass. Ryegrass serves many purposes, with the most beneficial being overseeding. This is the process of planting a winter grass over Bermuda or St. Augustine grass to help keep grasses green during the harsh winter months.
Ryegrass is great because it takes deep roots that keep it thriving and will actually benefit your lawn in the long run. In the Spring, once your Ryegrass starts to die off, it will provide excellent nutrition for your lawn – helping your grass…literally spring back.
Aside from using Ryegrass in your lawn, it is also great for your pastures because it provides a great high-quality forage for your livestock. This is a great option for keeping animals fed and happy during the cold and nasty months of winter, which can even help reduce feeding cost. Here at Arcola Feed, we always try to have plenty of Ryegrass available for use in your lawn and pasture. Feel free to come by and grab a bag to try it out for yourself.
