Sustainable Wine Production in Texas
Texas holds an important role in the production of wine for the United States. Texas A&M AgriLife has been working with farmers to help expand an already robust wine industry in the Lone Star State. They have been using techniques and horticultural research to help find ways to increase production, while taking sustainability into consideration.
Texas A&M AgriLife is working closely with knowledgeable enologist, which are scientist that focus on the production of wine. One of their main research labs is in Fredericksburg, the heart of Texas wine country, where they can complete research. With their help, they can help maximize and ensure that the Texas wine industry continues to grow and succeed. Texas ranks among the top five wine-producing states in the United States. Additionally, the Lone Star State has a wine-producing annual economic value of $20.35 billion.
