Remembering 9/11: It’s the 23rd year since that fateful day. The world as we knew it transformed irrevocably due to the 9/11 terror attacks, we are called upon to remember and reflect. This transformative event reverberates in our collective conscience. It will forever be etched in our memories.
Everyone can recall vividly where they were, what they were engaged in, and how profoundly their lives were altered. Countless innocent lives were abruptly extinguished. Now we perpetually honor the memory of what occurred on September 1st, 2001.
In the heart of our beloved Houston, several commemorations exist dedicated to the devastating events of 9/11. Among these is a poignant fragment of the ill-fated World Trade Center, situated at the University of Houston. It serves as a dignified symbol of our enduring resilience. Numerous community events further amplify this spirit of remembrance and unity. Among them being memorial 5K races that encourage community participation. Furthermore, the Houston City Hall, in its solemn and stately magnificence, is traditionally illuminated to honor those lost and to uphold our steadfast commitment to remembering this historical moment.
Like many, I harbor a deeply personal aspiration to journey to New York and pay my respects at the 9/11 memorial. This hallowed site is emblematic of our shared past. I firmly believe that visiting this location should be a cherished objective for everyone at least once in their lifetime.
In the midst of the hustle-bustle of our everyday lives, particularly at this juncture with back-to-school and work commitments at their peak, it’s crucial that we spare a moment for reflection this September 11th. Pause, remember and pay tribute to that life-altering day that transpired 23 years ago.
