Recipe for National Margarita Day
Recipe for National Margarita Day: It’s National Margarita Day! YAY! I love a good margarita!
My very favorite margarita to order is the house frozen rita at Casa De Vaquero in Stafford. I order it WITHOUT salt, but they add a splash of blue curacao for me, and it is electric blue and oh so yummy!
We have a margarita machine at our house, and let me tell you, it is a BIG HIT at all of our family gatherings. Everyone wants us to bring it! If you are looking for a refreshing drink that you can make at home, I recently made a batch of limoncello. It’s super easy and only requires a few ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 10 lemons
- 1 750 ml bottle of vodka
- 3 1/2 cups of water
- 2 1/2 cups of sugar
Directions:
- Peel the lemons into long strips, remove as much of the white pith as you can, because it is bitter.
- Place lemon peels in a pitcher and pour the vodka over the top. Cover with plastic and let steep on the counter for 4 days.
- Stir water and sugar in a large pan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Pour over vodka and lemons and let steep overnight.
- Strain through a strainer and discard the peels.
- Pour limoncello into bottles and seal.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
- Will keep in refrigerator for up to a month.
- Serve over ice, with a salted or sugared rim and a slice of lemon for garnish.
