October Gardening Tips: Finish up that Fall Garden
October Gardening Tips: Finish up that Fall Garden! The best part about October is that we start seeing some of that amazing fall weather come in. Along with the milder weather, hopefully we will see a little more rain come our way. With the cooler weather, it is important to get those last few varieties planted to complete your garden.
For our region, October is a great time to plant those leafy greens, this includes Collard, Lettuce, Parsley, and Beets. It is always recommended to use already grown plants over seeds for a more successful crop.
Texas Agri-life recommends buying the largest plants you can and ensuring that you water them properly before planting in your garden. Depending on the weather, you may have to water them daily. However, ensure that you don’t overwater! This can lead to root rot, as a result.
Allowing your plants to grow some before planting, will ensure that they have a nice, large root system. Here at Arcola Feed, we have a lot of great varieties available from Bonnie Plants. They are grown just down the road in Liverpool. New plants come in every Friday! Feel free to stop on by and pick up some for your fall garden.
