National Meteor Day: Today marks national meteor day in which you can observe the June Bootids shower. This shower occurs between June 22^nd and July 2^nd every year and can easily be seen after dusk and throughout the night. 

A meteor shower is an amazing event! See many meteors throughout the night’s sky. For example, some even produce at least 1,000 meteors an hour. In particular, one of the most active meteor showers is from the Leonids. They occur in November. 

The first meteor shower recorded was in the 1500’s. Interestingly, the earliest modern meteor shower was in 1833. They’re generally named after the nearest constellation or bright star. During the months of June and July, there are at least 5 meteor showers that are known to occur. All of which stem from comets that come near Earth.
