National Macaroni and Cheese Day Recipe
National Macaroni and Cheese Day Recipe: Macaroni and Cheese Day is TODAY!!! Mac and Cheese is one of those amazing foods that can be made quickly out of a box, or you can go the extra mile and make it from scratch. Regardless of how you make your Man and Cheese, it is a delicious meal that can always be adjusted and altered to add various toppings or meats in. Credit for this recipe is from Mortadella Head and I believe this is an amazing recipe for Mac and Cheese.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni noodles
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and salt generously. Cook the noodles al dente according to the package instructions.
- While the noodles cook, melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour to the melted butter and cook for a couple minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add the milk and whisk for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
- Remove from heat and add in the seasonings and shredded cheese. Stir until the cheese melts and the spices are fully incorporated.
- Once your noodles are finished cooking, drain them. Add your cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until combined.
