With the warm weather, it is easy to notice how quickly the water evaporates from our gardens. Observation shows how often we need to water. With this being said, a great practice that you can start implementing is using mulch in your garden.

This process includes adding some sort of material around your plants to help protect the roots from the heat and even drought. In our garden, we like to use hay but there are many options available. For example, compost, newspaper and even rock chips. When you add mulch, you allow the soil to soak up more water and it also aids in reducing the amount of water lost via evaporation.
