June 2022 Gardening Tips
June 2022 Gardening Tips: Wow! Summer showed up fast and hard and with a vengeance early last month! The heat and humidity are oppressive, which means things like okra, peppers and tomatoes are FLOURISHING!
We got a super late start this year on our spring garden as our tiller was broken. We have the usual things started, peppers, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumbers and several varieties of herbs along with a few eggplants and green beans.
If you are wanting to get melons like cantaloupe and honeydew, get those seeds in the ground now. Same thing goes for pumpkins and other winter squashes. Don’t forget black eyed peas and shell beans do great in the heat as well.
Try something new. Plant something you have never planted before….or try a new variety of one of your old favorites. You never know until you try. What is the worst that could happen, you spend a couple of dollars to grow something that doesn’t grow well, or you don’t like that variety! #howdoesyourgardengrow
