I Hope You Like Reading Our Blog
I hope you like reading our blog. I have always wanted to write my own blog, and this gives me a way to do it! Bringing you information about the store, and what’s new here, while keeping it light and humorous and including some family tidbits, too, brings joy!
I love sharing recipes every month, and hope to one day be able to put a cook book together that is comprised of my favorite recipes. Many of my recipes come from my grandmothers, and grandma Jurica, too! I hope they are happy that Jay and I try to honor them by keeping their recipes and cooking traditions alive!
We have passed many of these down to Alex and Jared. Alex even made strudel last month! We also make sausage every winter. This is something that Jay’s dad did as a young boy, with grandpa Jurica, and other family members. Before grandpa passed away, he would come for a visit, and we would get together in Jay’s parents kitchen and cut and grind pork, venison and beef and make a huge variety of sausage every winter. It was a great tradition of sausage making and Shiner beer drinking!
Jay and I have carried this tradition on, and we have made quite a few varieties on our own. We made a boudin blanc one year, and took it with is to the Brahman All American in West Monroe, Louisiana. It was SO good! I love being able to keep this tradition going.
In conclusion, I hope you like reading our blog and if you ever want to talk recipes, Arcola Feed is open Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit anytime then!
