Happy birthday to The United States Army!

Happy birthday to The United States Army!
The army was founded on this day in 1775. It is the land service of the United States Armed Forces and is designated as the Army of The United States in the U. S. Constitution. The mission of the Army is “to fight to win our Nation’s wars by providing prompt sustained land dominance, across the full range of military operations, and the spectrum of conflict, in support of combatant commanders.”  Created by the Second Continental Congress as a unified army for the Colonies to fight Great Britain, George Washington was appointed as its first commander. Headquartered in the Pentagon, in Virginia, today’s army is over 1.2 million strong!  The army mascot is the mule, and the motto is “This we’ll defend.”  Thank you to all of our enlisted service men and women, both past and present!
