Happy Audubon Day

Audubon Day is another day where you can help to make a difference for our planet! Start by visiting www.audubon.org to see how you can help protect the beautiful feathered creatures that live on our planet, from the gorgeous Calliope humming bird to theaudubon day gigantic Andean Condor! You can make a contribution, learn about wild birds, and you can help them out by placing bird feeders, bird houses, nest material boxes, and more!

The Houston area is a huge melting pot of bird migration. Just a few weeks ago, I had the annual one day visit of a flock of cedar waxwings. This year they stopped in and ate all the recently frozen dead fruit from the orange tree. These birds are ABSOLUTELY stunning, and only come through on a migration, and don’t stick around for very long. Once they eat their fill, they are gone, not to return again until next year! How will YOU celebrate Audubon Day?
