Gulf Annual Rye Grass

Ryegrass is a winter grass and grows great in cold, damp weather. You don’t need to work it into the soil, simply spread it by hand or with a broadcast spreader, and it will germinate, on average, in 7 to 10 days. If you are spreading it by hand, you can go back in and fill in the bare spots by hand.
If you are using it for grazing purposes for livestock, it is best to keep them off of it for a few weeks to get it a good start. When spring rolls around and warm days return, the rye will die out and your grass or pasture should come back in a few weeks.
