Emu Chicks at Arcola Feed
Emu Chicks at Arcola Feed: Did you know that we have emu? Yep! And mid-winter is their prime breeding season.
They are from Australia, so it’s actually summer down under, but they breed in the winter here in the states. If you have never seen an emu egg, they look like a giant avocado. Incubation is around 50 days and the male sits on the eggs, NOT the female. Emu chicks are SUPER cute when they hatch and resemble turkey poults.
If you are by the store in the next week or two, stop by and ask to see a few chicks. We would be glad to show them to you! We have a large cabinet style incubator and have hatched chicks the past two winters for a customer who raises them and always has more eggs than he has room in his incubators.
If you are interested in purchasing emu chicks, we can get you in contact with our customer that raises them. He is located in Rosharon.
In conclusion, stop by in the next week or two to see the Emu Chicks at Arcola Feed! We are open Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit us at 6215 FM 521 Arcola, Texas 77583 or contact us 281-431-1014.
