Earth Day 2022 : Today is Earth Day! Today is a great day to start doing something great for our planet!

Some easy things you can do at home to help our planet are recycling and composting. We have a recycle bin in the pantry, and we put all of our recyclable products in it daily. We have reduced our trash by half or more since we started recycling many years ago.

Instead of composting my kitchen food scraps, most of those are fed back to my chickens, with some exceptions like raw potatoes(which are toxic to chickens) We keep a “chicken bucket”, which is a small bucket, on the kitchen counter and fill it with the items I plan on feeding them. About every other day, or every third day, I take it out and dump it for them to scratch through and eat. My chicken buckets are white, and those girls know whats coming when I walk out carrying it! They get so excited, and it’s hilarious to see them, run up and grab a piece of something and take off with it so it doesn’t get stolen by one of the other hens.
