Be Hurricane Ready

Be Hurricane Ready Be Hurricane Ready because it’s hurricane season AGAIN here in the south.  Are you hurricane ready and prepared?  Do you have enough supplies for you and your family in the event of an evacuation?
What about your pets?  Do you have enough supplies for them to last for several days to a week, or more?  Do your dogs and cats have collars with name tags on them so if they are found they can be reunited with you? Are they microchipped in the event that their collars come off?   Microchipping is a quick, easy way to identify pets! It can get them back with their families in the event they become separated.
What about your livestock?   Do you have enough hay for them to last for a few weeks in the event that you have to move them somewhere else?  While, it isn’t really feasible to keep more than two to three weeks worth of feed on hand, hay can safely be stored for a year or more, if it is in a dry, well ventilated, out of the sun area.  Consider purchasing some blank cattle ear tags.   You can zip tie them to your horses halters, or braid them into their manes and/or tails for easy identification.  Be sure and write, with a waterproof marker, their name, your name and phone number on both sides.
