Baked Ziti Recipe
Baked Ziti recipe time! Legend has it that ziti comes from the Italian word zite, meaning “unmarried young woman.” This is how ziti became the pasta cut to serve at bridal dinners and Italian weddings, signifying the transition into marriage. Over time, the pasta became ziti, the Italian word for “wife.” Other sources say ziti comes from the Italian word for “the betrothed,” and is traditionally served as the first course at a wedding.
I found a really easy recipe that requires a whopping 4 ingredients to make Baked Ziti. All you need are the following ingredients:
- 8 ounces uncooked ziti pasta
- A 24 oz jar of marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Cook pasta until al dente.
- In a large bowl, mix all ingredients except parmesan.
- Pour into a lightly greased baking dish, top with parmesan and cook until golden and bubbly on top. (You can also brown chicken, ground beef or other protein and mix it in. I added chopped onions and some mushrooms to mine.)
- Serve with a salad and you have a nice refreshing dinner in less than 30 minutes!
