Arcola Feed Will Be Closed for Memorial Day
Monday is Memorial Day and Arcola Feed will be closed.
While most of us will celebrate the weekend and Monday with a family get-together and BBQ, remember the real reason for Memorial Day: remember those who have lost their lives during the fight for the freedoms we have here in the United States.
Please take a moment out of your day on Monday, to pause and think of those who have paid the ultimate price while serving our country.
Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day became a Federal Holiday in 1971. Decoration Day was a day to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. James Garfield held a speech on the first Decoration Day. Over 5000 people decorated the graves of 20,000 fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.
Originally celebrated on May 30th, in 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. This act would go on to allow all federal employees to celebrate a three-day weekend.
Arcola Feed thanks you for shopping locally with us and we hope you enjoy your weekend.
