Our History
Arcola Feed is truly a family-owned and operated business. We proudly support our community in and around Arcola, Texas through our contributions to the local chapters of FFA, 4-H, youth rodeos, and open shows. We also provide awards at some larger national level shows and year-end awards for some local clubs. Our history as a business stretches back to 1987.

About Our Family
We (Jay and Tara Jurica) own and operate Arcola Feed with our daughter, Alex. We work together as a team to provide Fort Bend and surrounding counties with the highest quality products available including farm and ranch supplies, tack, animal feed, pet food and supplies, and even houseware and gifts. We’ve grown our store throughout the years with hard work and dedication to our community. We love our loyal customers and know we could not be successful without them. That is why we try to give back as often as possible.
The story of our family can be found in every square foot of our feed store. In fact, Alex started coming to work with us when she was just 3 days old. She quite literally grew up in the store and got to know our customers over time, just as they got to know her. Alex’s passion for agriculture and animals has developed past the walls of the store as she’s grown. She now has degrees in Animal Science and Biomedical Science from Texas A&M and is currently pursuing her Veterinary Medicine degree.
Arcola Feed’s History
Jay started working for the previous owners of Arcola Feed when he was in high school. His commitment to the store never wavered. Jay continued to work during his two-year enrollment at Alvin Community College. At one point, the store hours were actually dependent upon his class schedule! Jay was so passionate about Arcola Feed and its potential, he purchased the business in 1987 with loans from his parents and grandparents. Those loans were paid off after two years of hard work and we’ve never looked back.
During those early years, Jay was the only employee though he truly “kept it in the family” with occasional help from his younger brother after he got out of class.
Over time, Arcola Feed grew. Soon Jay realized that the old 3,500 square foot location was just too small for the store’s needs. He had his eyes set on a new, bigger building that could better provide for the community and for our family. We built a new store in 1998. Arcola Feed is now a 4,500 square foot retail store with a 3,000 square foot warehouse on nearly 5 beautiful acres.
Our Staff
As for staff, we currently have one full-time employee (besides ourselves) and a staff of 8 to 10 part-time employees. Three of our employees have been with us for more than a decade.
If you’ve been in the store, you might have noticed our two furry “employees.” Mouse and Duke have become an important part of our family over the years and can often be found on our social media and in our store. Mouse and Duke also love to pick out weekly specials. They think they have great taste and we agree! Be sure to check out our blog, The Feed Scoop, for updates on Duke’s weekly picks.
Our Family’s Commitment
As a family, we breed Brahman, Beef Master, and Commercial cattle as well as Boer goats. We have been fortunate to sell a steer that won his class at the prestigious Houston Livestock Show.
Community Involvement
We strongly believe in supporting our local students in their agricultural endeavors. We have donated to many of our local school agriculture and 4H programs as a result.
When dogs broke into one of the local agriculture facilities and killed several student projects we quickly spearheaded a fundraiser that brought in over $21,000 to help the four students that lost animals recoup some of their expenses and purchase new projects or help to finance their college careers.
